Learning From Mistakes

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”
~Franklin D. Roosevelt

New experiences are things you can't avoid. It was some time during May when the Fenn band went to the music in the parks event in Six Flags, and looking at the large series of track, my knees trembled. Convincing me to do something stupid isn't easy the problem was... that's exactly what happened. Roller-coasters are my number two fears besides heights, which is also part of a roller-coaster.
It was a hot day in May. The Fenn School band was at Six Flags for the Awarding Of The Music In The Parks event in which we participate in every year. I was with my friends walking towards the DC Heroes Adventures area where my first experience with a roller-coaster waited. We got in line with a 10 or so minute wait where my heart beat so heavily with excitement and fear you could see it coming out of my chest. We finally got to the end of the line where we all stepped into the cart and the bars came down. As the cart climbed to the top I had immediate regrets. Then slowly... the cart rolled over and I immediately felt the G's as we surged towards the turns and over small hills. I got off Bizzarro knowing I would never do that again, and I knew up until the moment and then I did. This time we had gotten into the line for Mind Eraser. Chock full of loops and corkscrews I was about to dive into one of my biggest fears.

That day I had done something I never would of done if it hadn't been for the my friends. I felt the rush, the G's, and the excitement for days after, and after all that I'm glad I'd done it.That experience taught me that sometimes you have to face your fears, and hope nothing goes wrong.

This is great. Just make it a single paragraph.

Great quote, I haven't seen that used on any other blogs yet. I'm glad you conquered your fear and had fun.

This is a great post. I liked how you could clearly tell what you were feeling when we were at six flags.
